Kirkman Chiropractic can treat scoliosis—the most common of spinal deformities at a young age
Scoliosis
at Kirkman Chiropractic in Orlando, Florida
What is Scoliosis?
Scoliosis is a condition affecting an estimated 7 million Americans, where the spine develops an abnormal curved shape that can cause pain and in some cases, reduce lung capacity and cause difficulty in breathing. Often manifested during the teenage years, scoliosis tends to affect young women quite commonly during their growth spurt years. Scoliosis can be structural, due to congenital deformity, or functional, due to injury or habitual pressures. Although it can be considered a deformity, it can be corrected if the patient receives chiropractic treatment.
How can I find relief for Scoliosis?
At Kirkman Chiropractic we help scoliosis patients with a thorough evaluation, including X-rays, to determine the extent of the problem. When caught early, most issues related to scoliosis can be resolved and treated conservatively with chiropractic care and physical therapy. While we may not be able to straighten the spine, chiropractic care can reduce the severity of scoliosis and help patients live a better and normal life.
